Position Title: Slot Host

Department: Slots

Employment Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Summary/General Description:

A Slot Host monitors/observes all activity within assigned area, offering assistance and instructions on machine function payouts while ensuring guests have a favorable gaming and entertainment experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Slot Department Policy, Pueblo of Laguna Gaming Control Board/Tribal Gaming Regulatory Authority rules and regulations, and federal/state regulations.
  • Maintain and manage sensitive keys and “pouch pay” currency bank (e.g. issue, count, verify, sign for banks issued and balance bank) in order to protect company assets, pay hand-pay jackpots, exchange currency to currency and provide assistance to guests.
  • Be a team player (e.g., work toward team goals and foster a collaborative and positive work environment; put the team first; assist coworkers; treat all coworkers with kindness, courtesy and respect; never engage in negativity; maintain openness to coaching, learning and improving; receptive to change and willingness to embrace challenges with team-spirit).
  • Work under pressure; maintain regular and punctual attendance including working odd and unusual hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Perform job duties with minimum supervision and cooperation with management directives.
  • Maintain records (e.g., progressive, Multiple Transaction Log (MTL), override and taxable logs).
  • Assist in the resolution of guest complaints/situations (e.g., seek out information to solve problems and make decisions confidently and accurately, exercise tact, courtesy, and initiative) in a calm, professional and prudent manner through interaction on the casino floor.
  • Maintain radio contact with slot personnel, security and surveillance personnel as assigned. Speak accurately and clearly, understand radio transmissions and operate assigned equipment.
  • Perform moderately complex arithmetic calculations.
  • Maintain knowledge of the various types of slot machines. Identify major malfunctions and correct minor machine malfunctions (e.g., ticket printer jams, bill validator jams, etc.).
  • Complete required paperwork neatly and accurately, and reset slot machines after hand pay jackpot payoffs, under supervision of a supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness of casino floor (e.g. keep chairs pushed in, dispose of cups and any other light cleaning responsibilities) to promote a positive player environment.
  • Circulate casino floor to ensure slot machine lights and guests are attended to in a timely manner. Notify slot supervisors, shift managers, or slot technicians of customer needs and requests; follow up to ensure positive customer relations.
  • Assist in maintaining casino floor security by notifying management of any suspicious activity.
  • At all times maintain a courteous, positive and professional working relationship with all LDC personnel and the general public (e.g., coworkers, clients and vendors).
  • Build relationships and loyalty with guests through sincere and meaningful interactions (e.g., learn guests’ names and preferences; connect with them individually and professionally; smile; make eye contact and verbally greet guests from arrival to the property through departure; and provide fast and friendly service to guests).
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of services, room locations, amenities, and surroundings, providing accurate directions, and information for guest inquiries about promotions and special events.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED Certification preferred.
  • Must have relevant work experience.

Licensing & Certification:

  • None.

Computer Equipment, Software, Machinery:

  • Proficient in basic computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • 10 key calculator, changer, and money pouch.
  • 2-way communication radio.


Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to bend over, crouch/stoop, hear, reach overhead, stand, talk, turn/twist, walk and repetitively use hands 51-100% of the time.
  • Requires the ability to push/pull, carry and lift 50+ lbs. 51-100% of the time.
  • Requires the ability to slide/transfer 1-50+lbs. 25-50% of the time.

Essential Mental Demands:

  • Requires the ability to solve problems, organize, plan, make decisions, interpret data, read and write 51-100% of the time.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Work Environment (inside/outside):

  • The job is performed indoors with frequent exposure to loud noises and fumes (e.g., cigarette smoke).

Other Requirements:

  • Obtain and maintain a gaming license through the Pueblo of Laguna’s Gaming Control Board.
  • Comply with LDC and the Federal Government Bank Secrecy Act by acquiring and/or maintaining a Title 31 Certification.
  • Must pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening and cashiers test.
