POSITION SUMMARY:

The Psychotherapist works directly with the interdisciplinary treatment team to provide assessments and treatment of mental health issues through individual, group, and family psychotherapy in accordance with the established program and interdisciplinary treatment plan for adolescents with concurring psychiatric and medical disorders.

JOB-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develops, monitors, and documents individualized mental health treatment goals and objectives for each patient as part of the interdisciplinary treatment plans.

2. Provides evidence-based individual, milieu, group, and family psychotherapy, as well as other clinical therapeutic interventions in accordance with the patient's interdisciplinary treatment plan and the behavioral health program.

3. Schedules and coordinates one to two weekly individual sessions with the patient and one family session with the guardians unless otherwise established by the interdisciplinary treatment plan.

4. Works under the guidance of the Program Director to establish a caseload and weekly group coverage schedule

5. Provides timely and adequate documentation of all sessions and patient encounters.

6. Provides staff members formally and informally with de-escalation techniques, psychoeducation, and other effective clinical strategies for caring for individuals with behavioral and medical issues.

7. Participates in regularly scheduled team conferences with the interdisciplinary team for all patients on caseload.

8. Provides ongoing assessments to identify and address behavioral concerns interfering with medical or physical rehabilitation progress.

9. Communicates and coordinates intervention with the interdisciplinary team to achieve cohesion and effectiveness in a specialized psychiatric, medical, and physical rehabilitation inpatient program.

10. Effectively communicates and provides accurate updates to the Program Director and Program Medical Director regarding treatment planning, behavioral programming, clinical coordination, goals, objections, areas of clinical concern, progress, and the services successfully implemented.

11. Provides recommendations and actively participates in discharge planning and transition from the hospital to the next level of care.

12. Professionally presents self when representing the facility.

13. Staying current with the latest research and practices in the behavioral management and care of patients with behavioral health concerns applies to the role of the psychological treatment team.

14. Participates in ongoing program development meetings to assess the efficacy of current programs and makes recommendations for treatment fidelity.

15. Performs other duties as assigned.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

• Master’s degree required.

EXPERIENCE:

• Training and experience in developing, training, implementing, and monitoring written behavioral programs.

• A minimum of two (2) years working in an inpatient hospital/rehab setting is preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

• LPC, LMSW, or LCSW.

• Must be certified in BLS.

• Must maintain current certification in good standing during employment with this facility.
