In this position, the employee will be assigned to our flagging department to assist in flagging and traffic control duties. We prefer for the candidate to have experience in flagging and traffic control duties. Person is expected to be able to perform extensive flagger duties outside in various weather climates.

Essential Job Functions

  • Using hand signals and direction signs to direct traffic around road construction sites.
  • Communicating with other flaggers using hand-held radios to direct two-way traffic onto a single lane.
  • Informing the construction crew of any traffic issues that may affect their safety.
  • Appropriately positioning warning and detour signs around construction sites.
  • Setting up barricades and traffic cones along construction sites to cordon off certain areas.
  • Removing all signs, barricades, and traffic cones upon completion of construction work.
  • Withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
  • Ability to work with a heightened awareness within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
  • Flexibility to work various locations and schedules with the ability to travel, stay late or even overnight when necessary, with little or no notice

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • > 1 year experience flagging
  • ATSSA Certification Preferred
  • Strong Communication Skills
