Shelter Supervisors serve as a minister to individuals in crisis who seek shelter at the Rescue Mission. They represent the Rescue Mission in the spirit of Christ as an encourager while facilitating families and women to move on to productive and independent living.
Reports to: Shelter Manager
Hours of Availability:
The Shelter provides services to guests between the hours of 3pm 9am every day of the year.
Schedules are determined by the needs of the services we provide and can be discussed during the interview process.

4th Street, SE
Roanoke, VA 24013
Compensation: $17.00 (minimum)/hour (non-exempt/hourly)

Strong listening, as well as written & verbal communication skills to execute instructions, keep others informed and exhibit professionalism.
Demonstrated attention to detail/strong organizational skills to assist with multiple daily assignments and special projects.
Ambitious to exceed expectations.
Job Specific Qualifications
Experience working with individuals living with mental health and substance use disorder; helpful.
Desire to minister to and love those who need help and Jesus Christ
Patient and compassionate presence
Previous experience with conflict resolution techniques, helpful
Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Gmail, basic grammar
Career Summary (may include other duties as assigned)
WCC Supervisors will supervise Family Shelter Guests by enforcing Shelter policies with guests, coaching for accountability, follow the HMIS check-in/out process (includes move-in/out), providing accurate census of guests, assist with appointment management, monitor security protocols (doors/entry), room checks and promoting a team environment for guests, volunteers, and team members.
Administrative duties include completion of records/documents, inspections, incident reports, medication distribution, phone calls, supply maintenance.
Conflict resolution/deescalating potentially volatile situations and reporting to appropriate persons as needed. Assist volunteers and/or interns to include training.
All Rescue Mission of Roanoke team members may be asked to complete other duties as assigned by the leadership/management. The expectation is to complete these assignments as requested.
