Job Description – Procurement Manager- Direct Material

FSLA Status: Exempt

Location: Lordstown, OH

Reports To: Director of Procurement and Supplier Quality

Direct Reports: Buyer(s)

Primary Function: As a key member of the procurement team, you will be responsible for supply continuity, maintaining relationships with supplier partners and leveraging your skills on cost optimization. As a Manager for the Direct procurement team this candidate will lead, mentor, and manage a team of buyers. This position focuses on managing the direct material spend for the vehicle build in the assembly plant located in Lordstown, Ohio for Monarch Tractor Program and future vehicle programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, mentor and lead an effective team of Direct Procurement Buyers for Monarch Tractor Program and future customer programs.
  • Provide requirements and support IT on the integration and purchasing data migration into SAP.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, confidentiality agreements, master purchase agreements, and others as required with suppliers.
  • Identify and drive implementation of cost reduction actions to support customer and FOH requirements.
  • Localize, identify and on-board new suppliers.
  • Responsible and Accountable for supplier key performance indicators.
  • Develop and govern purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Monitor, assess and mitigate supply chain risk.
  • Develop and manage supplier relations, conduct periodic business/performance reviews for continued improvement of deliverables.
  • Partner with legal to negotiate commercial contracts/agreements with suppliers including NDA’s and T&C’s.
  • Partner with Accounting to resolve any financial commitments to supplier partners.
  • Represents the procurement team in leadership meetings.
  • Support EV trade shows to identify new suppliers.
  • Some travel will be required to supplier and customer sites.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Supply Chain, Finance, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or similar degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • MBA or Equivalent Master’s degree desired

Required Experience

  • A minimum of seven years of experience in the procurement field, preferably in Automotive, managing a procurement team or as Project Leader with proven track record of success.
  • Strong experience working with SAP system

Required Skills/Licenses/Certifications

  • CSCP, CPM or CPP certification is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/technical requirements/specifications.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers, suppliers, or employees of the organization.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
  • Present to various levels of management with different depths of expertise.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
  • The successful candidate for this position must have a broad technical background with the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers across a wide variety of issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish and maintain professional, effective working relationships within and outside the company.
  • Must be self-directed with exceptional time management, prioritization, and organizational skills; Strong project management skills to keep team and actions on track to completion.
  • Prior background in automotive industries; Experience working with Automotive Suppliers.
  • Proven experience working with suppliers, including new launches, and improving underperforming suppliers through supplier improvement programs.
  • Demonstrated hands-on approach, analytical abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Motivated to learn and develop incredible on-the-job experience.
