POSITION PURPOSE

Mississippi Federal Credit Union is looking for qualified and talented individuals to join the Financial Specialist team. The ideal candidate for this position is motivated, agile, service focused, thrives in a dynamic team environment, an effective listener and communicator, detail oriented, and able to trouble shoot effectively. The Financial Specialist is responsible for assisting new and existing members, on the phone or face-to-face, with a variety of transactions including withdrawals, deposits, payments, opening accounts, loan applications, renewing certificate accounts, and researching account inquiries. The Financial Specialist listens effectively to the member, performs transactions accurately, answers questions regarding MSFCU products and services, and cross sells products and services that will help the member reach their financial goals. The Financial Specialist works in a team environment and assists their co-workers and Management as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Follow MSFCU policies and procedures at all times
  2. Follow objectives to achieve company and department goals
  3. Solve problems quickly and accurately
  4. Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all actions taken as required by law, regulation, and company policies and procedures.
  5. Represent MSFCU in a professional manner in all interactions with MSFCU members
  6. Maintain confidentiality of member, employee, and company information
  7. Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a professional manner
  8. Provide prompt, excellent service, and accurate transactions
  9. Promote, explain, and cross-sell MSFCU products and services
  10. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge on all credit union products and services
  11. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of, and adheres to, the requirements of all related policies, procedures, rules and regulations required for position
  12. Model a high level of service and a professional demeanor and appearance
  13. Participate in MSFCU sponsored community outreach events
  14. May have opening and closing responsibilities
  15. Responsible for regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
  16. Attend and participates in meetings and training as required
  17. Establish and maintain professional business relations with all MSFCU employees
  18. Assume responsibility for other duties as required or assigned
  19. Work closely with team members to succeed as a group
  20. Assume responsibility for ensuring that professional business relations are established and maintained with MSFCU members
  21. Utilize effective and professional communication to present a positive image in all situations
  22. Keep management informed of activities, progress attained toward established objectives, and of any significant problems
  23. Assist area personnel as needed
  24. Stay informed of changes in policies, procedures, and related legal and regulatory requirements
  25. Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School diploma, or equivalent.
  2. 2 years of experience in lending
  3. Outgoing, detail oriented, and organized
  4. Ability to perform basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages)
  5. High level of service and communication skills
  6. Professional appearance, dress and attitude.
  7. Ability to use related computer software, Microsoft Office products, and business equipment, including computers, copy machine, coin and money counting machines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience working for a financial institution, preferably a credit union.
  2. Bachelor's degree in a business-related field

KNOWLEGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Excellent relationship building, verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal skills
  2. Experience in business accounts and loans
  3. Detail oriented and good organizational skills
  4. Ability to perform mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages), and interpret and analyze financial data.
  5. Ability to work independently and as a team member
  6. Ability to present a positive and professional image to all employees and members
  7. Problem-solving skills
  8. Flexible with shift priorities
  9. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced environment
  10. Practice ethical behavior and understand the need for confidentiality
