Make a difference as a Nurse AideAs a Nurse Aide at Palolo Chinese Home in Honolulu, you will play a crucial role in assisting residents with various daily activities, ensuring their comfort and well-being. By helping with grooming, bathing, and mobility, among other tasks, you will directly contribute to the residents' quality of life. Communication is key in this role, as you will report any changes in residents' conditions, complaints, or issues promptly to the licensed nurse.
Additionally, maintaining a safe and happy environment for residents is essential. Adhering to regulatory guidelines, life safety protocols, and infection control measures is a fundamental part of this position. Accurate and timely documentation of care provided is also a vital aspect of the role, ensuring that each resident's needs are met efficiently.
What matters mostTo excel in the Nurse Aide role at Palolo Chinese Home, candidates must possess essential skills and qualifications. Proficiency in English is crucial for effective communication with residents and the healthcare team. The ability to provide both physical and emotional care to elderly and disabled individuals is vital.
Successful candidates will demonstrate autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation while carrying out their responsibilities. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with current CPR, First Aid, and Nurse Aide certification from an accredited training program or school. These certifications ensure that Nurse Aides are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver quality care to residents in a professional and compassionate manner.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English to facilitate proper communication with others.
- Must be able to provide physical and emotional care to the aged and disabled.
- Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have current CPR, First Aid and Nurse Aide certification from an accredited Nurse Aide Training Program/School.
