General Summary:
Provide extensive legal research, analysis and recommendations on legal and environmental issues surrounding Rainbow Energy Center and its affiliates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise the executive leadership team on the potential legal ramifications of proposed organizational policies and procedures.
- Advise on and manage the resolution of disputes and litigation.
- Draft and review contracts and a wide variety of legal correspondences.
- Strategize with executive leadership team on tax, legislative, regulatory and compliance matters and advocate for these positions as necessary.
- Oversees all matters of legal significance, including contracts, leases, risk management, and corporate governance.
- Provide supervision to outside counsel hired to assist Rainbow Energy Center with their specialized legal services.
- Negotiate legal matters on behalf of Rainbow Energy Center and its affiliates.
- Protect the organization’s rights in its interactions with external parties.
- Perform factual and legal research and analysis.
- Stay up to date with relevant environmental regulations and standards to ensure Rainbow Energy Center’s initiatives adhere to legal requirements, permits and best interests.
- Protect the company’s intellectual property rights.
Job Criteria:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration or related field. Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school. Active license to practice law and/or membership in the state Bar. Familiarity with general corporate legal work. Background in legal work.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Exceptional negotiation, strong critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
- Experience managing outsourced legal spend for cost efficiency and effectiveness.
- Familiar with key legal issues surrounding Rainbow Energy Center
- Ability to negotiate, research, and communicate verbally and in writing effectively.
- Adaptability and attention to detail.
- Excellent management and organizational skills.
- Ability and responsibility to work safely alone and within a team while following REC safety rules, certifications, and procedures.
- Ability and responsibility to ensure security procedures are followed including immediate notification of potential incidents.
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, walk and stand; talk both in person and by telephone; use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities include close and distant focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels. Subject to occasional vibration and hazards and on occasion exposed to fumes, dust or mist. Must wear protective equipment when required. Drive REC vehicles to other sites.
