Job DescriptionJob Description

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for developing strong relationships throughout the organization to gain valuable insights and proactively identify areas in need of improvement. They will lead and oversee all functions of the HR department, including recruitment, benefits administration, compensation, leave management, and ensuring compliance with company policies and practices. This role works closely with leadership to foster a productive work environment for all team members and provides thought leadership and collaboration to achieve positive outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with leadership by providing guidance and counsel in managing people decisions.

  • Provide strong employee relations.

  • Lead and oversee recruitment, onboarding, benefits, compensation, training, performance management, workers' compensation, and the entire employee lifecycle across locations.

  • Monitor staff performance and counsel staff on performance improvement plans.

  • Guide attorneys and supervisors through progressive discipline with individual staff members. Act as a liaison between the employee and their supervisor.

  • Assist leadership with the performance, benefit, and compensation review and evaluation processes.

  • Monitor and ensure the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommend best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  • Continuously drive to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of HR service delivery.

  • Review company policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters annually and recommend improvements to leadership. Communicate changes to company personnel policies and procedures to employees, ensuring proper compliance and understanding.

  • Create learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.

  • Develop standard job descriptions and position specifications; ensures periodic review of job descriptions and position specifications.

  • Establish a culture committee and partner with team members on culture initiatives.

  • Monitor industry and the competition for potentially impactful people, organization, and related management changes, trends, and challenges.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business or equivalent. Approximately 5-7 years of progressively more responsible work experience. Human Resources certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is highly desirable.
