Job Title: Registered Nurse - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit team. The NICU RN will play a crucial role in providing specialized care to newborns and premature infants, ensuring their well-being and supporting their families during this critical time.

Responsibilities:

  1. Neonatal Assessment and Care:

    • Conduct comprehensive assessments of neonatal patients, including monitoring vital signs, respiratory support, feeding, and developmental needs.
    • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed, focusing on neonatal care protocols and family-centered care.

  2. Ventilator and Medical Equipment Management:

    • Monitor and manage respiratory support equipment, including ventilators and CPAP machines.
    • Provide skilled care in managing and troubleshooting medical equipment utilized in neonatal care.

  3. Family Support and Education:

    • Provide emotional support and guidance to families of newborns in the NICU, explaining care plans, procedures, and potential complications.
    • Educate parents on caring for their premature or critically ill infants, including breastfeeding support and developmental milestones.

  4. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Collaborate with the NICU healthcare team, including neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and other specialists, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
    • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and families, updating on patient status, progress, and care plans.

  5. Documentation and Record-keeping:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and NICU-specific protocols for documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Previous experience in a NICU or pediatric setting is preferred; specialized NICU training may be required.
  • Proficiency in neonatal assessments, respiratory support, and caring for premature infants.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills in a high-stress environment.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to changes in neonatal conditions effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC) or related specialty.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems used in neonatal care.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education in neonatal nursing.
