Automotive Technician

Qualifications:

  • Must have tools necessary to perform wide range of maintenance/repairs.
  • High school diploma required, college or trade school preferred.
  • ASE Certifications or equivalent manufactures training preferred.
  • Worked in a dealership or independent repair facility for at least two years as a Technician.
  • Consistent work history
  • Must provide own tools
  • Pass a background check and drug screening
  • Valid drivers license
  • State vehicle inspector preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Save and tag parts as required by the manufacturer or customer.
  • Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required. Performing Multi Point Inspection's
  • Ability to prioritize repairs based on immediate needs, future needs, and no repairs necessary.
  • Document work performed. Road-test vehicles when required or refer to the test technician, keeping in mind that customers' vehicles should not be used for personal errands.
  • Attend factory-sponsored training classes. Keep abreast of VW or Subaru factory technical bulletins.
  • Ensure that customers' vehicles are kept clean. Keep shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership-owned tools at all times.
  • Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.

Skills:

  • Warning light diagnosis
  • Ability to diagnose and perform drive-ability repairs.
  • Engine and/or transmission replacement
  • Timing and cylinder head replacement
  • Ability to perform general diagnostics
  • Ability to perform scheduled maintenance in accordance with Volkswagen standards.
