Position: Medical Surgical Technician
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Duration: 2 Months

Job Summary:

The Medical Surgical Technician at NYP Brooklyn Medical Group will support the Spine MultiSpecialty department by providing technical assistance in the medical and surgical setting. This is a 12-week assignment from June 10, 2024, to September 7, 2024, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The role requires a minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant and relevant certifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:

    • Assist with patient preparation for medical and surgical procedures.
    • Perform basic patient care tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and assisting during examinations and treatments.

  • Technical Support:

    • Set up and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.
    • Ensure all surgical tools are sterilized and in proper working condition.

  • Administrative Tasks:

    • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
    • Utilize EPIC for patient scheduling, record keeping, and data entry (preferred).

  • Clinical Support:

    • Assist physicians and nurses during surgical procedures and examinations.
    • Apply dressings and assist with wound care as directed.

  • Compliance and Safety:

    • Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards.
    • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical or surgical setting.

  • Certifications:

    • Medical Assistant Certification.
    • CPR certification.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system is preferred.
    • Proficiency in basic medical procedures and patient care techniques.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance, adhering to the dress code of navy scrubs.
Additional Details:
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. No weekends or holidays. Overtime may be required if needed.
  • Dress Code: Navy scrubs.
