Overall Summary:

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Leader will engage the leadership team and staff to create a culture of continuous improvement. They will use lean tools to address production, quality, cost and delivery issues.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Direct and oversee the Continuous Improvement team including the Lean Champion (s) and Quality Analyst.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support Operations management in the development, planning and execution of a lean strategy and metrics.
  • Infuse Lean principles throughout the organization, developing the trust necessary to lead change, reward efforts and maintain successes.
  • Collect and analyze operating data, including cycle time, yield and throughput to identify and set priorities.
  • Lead and develop CI roadmaps.
  • Plan and facilitate Kaizen events.
  • Apply a wide range of process improvement tools to identify and eliminate waste; including Value Stream Mapping, Set-Up Time Reduction and SQDIP Accountability Boards.
  • Develop metrics and scorecards to assess the effectiveness of Lean activities.
  • Demonstrate positive impact and results on Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Inventory resulting from Lean activities.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Coach, develop, and mentor direct reports.
  • Promote safety as a number one priority.
  • Perform other (or other related) duties as applicable or assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

  • Ability to lead change and motivate at all organizational levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to influence others, even without direct authority.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiency including: Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 10 years of Lean/CI experience in manufacturing and transactional settings.
  • 5+ years of team leadership experience with demonstrated positive impact and results.
  • Extensive lean experience leading and developing CI roadmaps, facilitating Kaizen events, and mentoring CI resources both in transactional and manufacturing settings.
  • Proven success mentoring and developing CI resources.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work 8 hours consecutively.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
