Mechanical Technician

About Your Role

Velocity is not your typical restoration shop. Our mechanics work on a designated station on our assembly line. Stations range from electrical wiring to chassis, mechanical, assembly and test and tune. Station assignment is based on previous experience and skillset. Cross training is available as you progress your career with Velocity.


Duties and Responsibilities (Based on Assembly Station)

  • Safely place and secure powder coated frame onto lift.
  • Install leaf springs, shocks, axles, steering box, fuel tank, brake lines, engine, transmission, and other components onto chassis.
  • Mount wheels.
  • Install dashboard accessories, switches, and indicator lights.
  • Modify and terminate wiring components for dashboard.
  • Mount control pack fuse and relay box.
  • Install pedals and column boot.
  • Ensure that all components behind the dashboard are properly installed.
  • Run wiring for various parts and components.
  • Install windshield.
  • Install steering column and steering wheel, connect power steering lines.
  • Install heater valve, a/c condenser, and dryer including service ports and routing hoses accordingly.
  • Mount cooling fan.
  • Install radiator.
  • Connect cooling fan wiring.
  • Bleed brake master cylinder and calipers.
  • Modify and install shift linkage.
  • Install exhaust system and fuel tank.
  • Fill fluids and check for leaks.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable to complete the job efficiently and accurately the first time.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work well independently or with a team.
  • Take clear photos of your work for documentation and customer service purposes. .
  • Abide by dress code and wear PPE as required.


Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working independently.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work daily.
  • Adhere to all health regulations and utilize all safety equipment.
  • Ability to maintain professional communications with managers, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Dependability and work ethic to show up every day on time.
  • Ability to work overtime on evenings, Fridays, and weekends as needed.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is required.
  • Must have own tools.


Education Background and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Previous automotive mechanical experience
  • Previous assembly experience is a plus


Physical Demands (To include but not limited to):

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and place merchandise and supplies up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Frequent standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Frequent reaching overhead and below the knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting.
  • Ability to work in hot or cold temperatures for long periods of time.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle.
