Alexandria, United States SimpsonScarborough Full time
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: Minimum $80,000

Are you a master of the copywriting arts? Do you cringe at half-baked headlines and poorly executed ad campaigns? Are you obsessed with culture and passionate about doing creative work that really matters in people’s lives — work that reaches hearts, changes, minds, and moves the needle for clients in a dynamic agency setting?

Cool, because we’re looking for a Senior Copywriter like that to join our creative studio at SimpsonScarborough.

Requirements:

  • Reporting to the ACD-Copy, the Senior Copywriter brings fresh conceptual thinking and a high volume of original ideas to the brand and campaign work our creative team delivers.
  • We’re looking for writers with a commitment to pushing their concepts past the ‘been there’ and ‘done that’ to make our creative work as strong as it can be. (And then push even further.)
  • You’ll work closely with an amazing team of fun and inspiring designers, strategists, research analysts, project managers, and account leaders at SimpsonScarborough, all of whom share your passion for developing effective brand communications for our growing portfolio of clients.
  • On any given day as a Senior Copywriter at SimpsonScarborough, you will:
    • Define brand voices that are joyfully disruptive and unapologetically distinctive in the market.
    • Write brand narratives that support and sell the underlying creative idea of a brand or campaign concept to the client and stakeholders.
    • Create usable verbal systems for brands and campaigns and distill them for client use via brand guidelines.
    • Write compelling headlines, copy, and ‘calls to action’ for a range of brand creative deliverables, including media campaigns, social media content, printed materials, environmental branding, audio ads, video ads and brand anthems, and website copy.
    • Actively contribute thoughtful perspectives throughout the creative process to help our agency produce captivating work that delivers real results.
    • Ensure the accuracy of written work across the agency.
    • Learn new skills, concepts, programs and features as needed to keep yourself and the creative team as competitive in the industry as we all want to be.
    • Maintain a broad curiosity about culture and the ‘creative industry’ at large, including the intersection of business and creativity. As a producer of quality content on the SimpsonScarborough team, you are responsible for honing your craft, staying informed on industry trends, and keeping yourself inspired by creative work happening outside the higher education industry.

Qualifications:

  • At least four (4) years of agency copywriting experience is required.
  • A competitive portfolio of creative work (copywriting) from the past four years.
  • 2- or 4-year degree in relevant field and/or any combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and escalate deviations and changes when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
  • Comfortable collaborating with remote project teams nationwide.

Salary, Perks & Benefits:

Salary starts at $80,000.00 and will be commensurate with experience.

  • SimpsonScarborough offers a full benefits package, including nationwide health coverage, dental, vision, employer paid life insurance, flexible time off (FTO), student loan reimbursement after waiting period, and voluntary benefits such as critical illness and accident insurance, 100% paid parental leave, and a 401k with employer contribution after waiting period.
  • Perks include flexible work model including Flexible Fridays, telework stipend, weeklong agency closures (summer and winter), and a day off for your birthday.
