The City of Seabrook is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our Finance Department as an Accounting Technician I. This position is crucial in supporting the City's Finance Department and Utility Billing operations, covering services such as water, sewer, and garbage. The primary responsibilities include delivering exceptional customer service, resolving account issues, and handling utility accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist utility customers with inquiries, complaints, and the opening and closing of utility accounts.
- Explain utility policies and ordinances clearly to customers.
- Process and maintain service orders, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Assist in generating and sending delinquent notices to customers.
- Support the monthly disconnection processes.
- Collect payments for various city services including utilities, events, facilities, parks, and pools.
- Maintain an organized and balanced daily cash drawer.
- Process daily bank deposits accurately.
- Track and issue animal licenses as required.
- Facilitate the issuance of pool passes to eligible residents.
- Process applications for event rentals and park usage, ensuring all necessary information is captured.
- Contribute to team efforts by performing related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of city utility billing policies, ordinances, and procedures.
- Knowledge of utility services, including water, sewer, and garbage.
- Customer service principles and practices.
- Cash handling and payment processing procedures.
- Relevant city services knowledge, including events, facilities, parks, and pools.
- Record-keeping and documentation best practices.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with relevant software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective customer interaction.
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Multitasking and time management skills.
- Attention to detail in processing payments and documentation.
- Proficiency in using standard office equipment and software.
- Accuracy in handling cash transactions and maintaining cash drawers.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Work is typically performed in an office environment.
- Requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive wrist, hand, and fine motor movements.
- Requires visual acuity and the ability to lift up to 5 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Six months to a year of cashier experience required.
- Ability to be bonded.
