This role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, technical expertise in electrical systems, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities- Electrical Switchgear & Control Technician:

  • Diagnose electrical faults and malfunctions in switchgear equipment through thorough troubleshooting and analysis.
  • Perform repairs and replacements of defective components, including circuit breakers, relays, cables, switches, and wiring, to restore functionality.
  • Conduct functional tests and verification procedures to ensure proper operation of repaired equipment and compliance with safety standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks to minimize the risk of future failures, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting switchgear components.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls, assessing and resolving switchgear issues to minimize downtime and restore power supply.
  • Interact professionally with customers, providing updates on repair progress, explaining technical issues, and offering recommendations for equipment maintenance or upgrades.
  • Document all service and repair activities accurately, including parts used, testing results, and recommendations for further action.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times, ensuring a safe working environment for oneself and others.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in switchgear technology to continuously improve skills and knowledge.

Qualifications- Electrical Switchgear & Control Technician:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or certification in electrical or electromechanical field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a switchgear technician or similar role, with a strong background in troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to electrical work, including lockout/tagout procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record may be required.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency service calls as needed.
  • Travel expectations up to 25% throughout Midwest Region
  • OT Available (expect 40-45 hours/weekly on average)

Physical Requirements - Electrical Switchgear & Control Technician:

  • Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and components up to 75lbs.
  • Comfort working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Physical dexterity and agility to perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and reaching.
