Job Purpose

Under clinical supervision of a physician, the Nurse Practitioner provides general medical care, treatment and health care services to patients within the scope of his/her licensure and expertise level of the supervising physician.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensure: Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) and a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Missouri.
  • Certifications: Certification by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner.

Job Duties

  • Manage overall patient care including lifestyle and development issues.
  • Participate in development and revisions of the clinic policies and procedures and annual review.
  • Record patient medical histories and symptoms.
  • Perform physical exams and patient observations.
  • Develop treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases. Detect changes in a patient’s health and change treatment plans, as necessary.
  • Educate patients and families on managing illnesses or injuries and disease prevention.
  • Perform screening evaluations, order, administer, and analyze diagnostic tests.
  • Monitor and operate medical equipment.
  • Diagnose health issues, evaluate responses to treatment and medications.
  • Prescribe medications.
  • Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models.
  • Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with RHC Standards and other federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Abide by program and agency policies and procedures.
  • Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
