Job Summary:

Compass Systems Inc. is seeking a qualified Senior Electrical Engineer to perform research and engineering regarding aircraft modifications for various platforms. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, the candidate will be required to work independently with minimal oversight, depending upon the scope, scale, and complexity of the effort/project. Supervision will be provided on an as needed basis. For small projects, the candidate will be required to perform the role of Electrical Lead, teaming with drafters, project leads, and shop planners to design, install, and deliver assemblies. The candidate will also provide design and documentation support on a variety of aircraft modification and integration efforts within the Aircraft Prototype Systems Division (APSD), Naval Air Warfare Division Aircraft Division.


Essential Job Functions:

The preferred candidate will be responsible for the design, fabrication, and installation of assemblies where the candidate is the engineer of record (engineer on the drawing). Though the candidate doesn't build or manufacture the designed assembly, he/she will oversee and reconcile prototype issues and deficiencies if and as they arise. Similarly, the journey level EE should be capable of researching materials, and parts, with the ability to propose alternatives given lead time issues, or part/material function.


Other Job Functions:

The candidate must be willing and able to collaborate within the electrical team, consisting of engineering technicians, drafters, and electrical engineers. Similarly the candidate must be able to team and resolve challenging platform constraints with mechanical and aerospace engineering counterparts. The candidate must be comfortable leading small teams of people, interacting with and briefing customers and Division Leadership.

Requirements:

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

A bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (aerospace, chemical, electrical, or mechanical).

Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in performing the stated functions.

  • Prior experience using CAD tools, circuits design and analysis (PSPice). Proficient with Microsoft office products.
  • Ability to read schematics, and understand the associated symbols.
  • Ability to understand and navigate manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
  • Ability to understand and navigate aircraft publications, IPBs and Wiring Diagrams.
  • Ability/experience designing printed circuit boards (PCBs).
  • Software programing microcontrollers or field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).
  • RF engineering and associated knowledge not required but would be considered a significant benefit.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit, walk, see, hear, and feel. Occasionally will need to lift/and or move up to 20lbs. Moderate environment temperature and noise level. Must be able to interpret data, information, and documents. Can learn and apply new information and/or skills. Some travel may be required.
