HVAC Mechanic

Position Overview: The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems within the hotel premises. They play a critical role in ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for guests and staff by regulating indoor air quality and temperature.
Key Responsibilities:
- HVAC System Installation: Install new HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioning units, ventilation ducts, and related components, according to manufacturer specifications and building codes.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC equipment to identify and address potential issues before they escalate, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency.
- Repairs and Troubleshooting: Diagnose HVAC problems, such as airflow restrictions, refrigerant leaks, malfunctioning thermostats, and faulty electrical components, and implement timely repairs to restore functionality.
- System Upgrades: Recommend and implement upgrades to HVAC systems, including retrofitting with energy-efficient components, installing programmable thermostats, and integrating smart controls to optimize performance and reduce operating costs.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to HVAC emergencies, such as system failures, refrigerant leaks, and indoor air quality issues, to minimize disruptions to hotel operations and ensure guest comfort.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards pertaining to HVAC installations, maintenance, and repairs, including refrigerant handling and disposal protocols.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of HVAC maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and replacements, to track equipment performance, warranty coverage, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or vocational training in HVAC systems is preferred.
- Certification: Valid HVAC technician license or certification issued by the relevant authority. Additional certifications in refrigerant handling, electrical systems, and building automation controls are desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as an HVAC technician, preferably in a hospitality or commercial setting.
- Skills: Proficient knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, and tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols. Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Working Conditions:
- The Mechanic may be required to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate maintenance schedules and emergency situations.
- The role involves working in various indoor and outdoor environments, including guest rooms, public areas, mechanical rooms, and rooftop installations, sometimes in confined or elevated spaces.
- The Hotel Mechanic may be exposed to hazards such as electrical shocks, burns, falls, and refrigerant leaks, and must adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
