Job DescriptionJob Description

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for performing day-to-day administrative functions in a busy pediatric Genetics practice, with a primary focus on obtaining authorizations and referrals for procedures, genetic testing, drugs and office visits. This position will also be responsible for insurance verification and scheduling patient appointments including new patient appointments and follow up visits. Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a high-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or 2+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe; Experience working with medical practice management software a plus.
  • Other skills required:
    1. Experience working as a patient representative.
    2. Medical insurance knowledge.
    3. Experience in requesting/submitting prior authorization for various diagnostic exams, prescriptions, etc.
    4. Professional manner and appearance.
    5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    6. Meticulous attention to detail.
    7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.)
