Immediate Supervisors: President, Practice Administrator


General Job Summary:

Collaborates with pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners during regular business hours to coordinate the mental health care of patients requiring this service.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Consult with pediatric primary care providers to screen for mental health disorders by reviewing screening questionnaire responses completed by patients and parents at well child visits and behavior consults.
  2. Consult with pediatric providers to evaluate and counsel those patients who have been diagnosed with a mental health disorder to monitor response to medication.
  3. Arrange individual counseling sessions for those patients who require additional counseling than can be completed during a medication check, or if screening at well visit identifies significant concern for postpartum depression, anxiety, or depression.
  4. Is available for emergent consultation requested by pediatric primary care providers for high-risk individuals, i.e. suicidal ideation. Orders and signs relevant to the Baker Act as appropriate, with awareness of community mental health resource stewardship and implications for patient and family.
  5. Flexible schedule to accommodate practice needs, which may include evening hours. No weekends.
  6. Collaborate with practice leadership on the continued development and any future expansion of the Palm Beach Pediatrics mental health program.
  7. Work with leadership to coordinate best practices for the mental health program services.
  8. Cooperate with all needs related to credentialing for Florida Medicaid, Medicaid managed care, and commercial payors.
  9. Complete initial testing assessment appointments, and recommend additional testing services as appropriate.
  10. Oversee, administer, score, and reports for psychological testing program, including maintaining inventory of testing supplies and materials, and communicating inventory needs to Practice Administrator.
  11. Complete testing feedback sessions with patient and family members, and make relevant recommendations.
Requirements:

Education:

Doctor of Psychology (PhD or PsyD)


Licensure/Certification:

Current Florida psychologist license. ADOS-II testing administration experience strongly preferred.


Experience:

Minimum 3 years of psychological testing experience in pediatric populations (ages 6-21 years) required. Experience with younger populations and/or play therapy preferred.


Skills:

Excellent communication skills, and willingness to help team members.

Skill in documentation of patient care including reviewing for accuracy and completeness.

Skill in timely completion of documentation and psychological testing reports.

De-escalation skills for high risk individuals and families.


Abilities:

Ability to communicate clearly with many different levels of staff.

Ability to analyze medical records and documentation and identify problem areas.

Ability to collaborate effectively with leadership, providers, and administrative and medical support staff.


Equipment Operated:

Standard clinical and office equipment.


Work Environment:

Combination of medical office and exam rooms. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases (including COVID-19), biohazards, and other conditions common in outpatient clinic settings.


Mental/Physical Requirements:

Variety of walking, standing, sitting, bending, twisting, and reaching.
