JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE:
Connecticut River Valley Farmworker Health Program (CRVFHP)
Driver/Courier
POSITION SUMMARY:
Transports patients to and from scheduled appointments related to their care. Delivers prescriptions and supplies between multiple work sites, pharmacies, and farm sites.
REPORTS TO:
CRVFHP Manager
FLSA STATUS:
Part Time, Non-Exempt
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive, load, and unload vehicles.
- Transport patients to and from destinations.
- Arrive at destinations on schedule.
- Research and plan for traffic, construction and weather delays.
- Use navigation applications to determine the best route.
- Drive scheduled pickup and delivery route and to additional locations as needed.
- Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures and abide by CHCFC policies pertaining to proper vehicle operation.
- Inspect vehicle and vehicle equipment, such as mirrors, lights, gas gauge, temperature gauge, tires, turn signals and brakes in order to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition.
- Ensure the vehicle has adequate gasoline and is cleaned and routinely washed.
- Report any mechanical problems encountered with the vehicle to CRVFHP Manager or designee.
- Use professional communication methods and techniques to include maintaining positive and professional language and demeanor.
- Accurately document mileage and any related expenses pertaining to vehicle use.
- Monitor annual inspection and registration renewals and notify supervisor at least two weeks in advance of expiration.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. CPR certification preferred.
Experience: Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Experience in a health care or dental office setting preferred.
Skills:
- Incorporates CHCFC values, principles and mission statement into daily activities.
- Ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions.
- Ability to drive daily on established routes and follow established laws and safe driving procedures and practices.
- Excellent navigation skills and proficiency in using navigation applications to find locations.
- Time management and organizational skills to keep track of transportation and stay on schedule.
- Ability to display professional business attitude with a pleasant demeanor while working in a customer service oriented organization.
- Excellent oral communication skills for the purposes of conveying information and instructing others while maintaining a strong customer service focus.
- Sensitivity to low-income populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with ethnically, culturally, racially, and gender diverse staff and patients.
- Ability to efficiently operate basic office equipment (multi-line phone, fax, photocopier)
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Internet.
