OVERVIEW: 

The Farmworkers Institute of Education and Leadership Development (FIELD), is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. FIELD was founded in 1978 by Farmworker Leader Cesar E. Chavez and is dedicated to strengthening America’s agricultural and rural communities through our Core Values of Opportunity, Excellence, Integrity, Innovation and Si Se Puede. FIELD carries out its mission through a continuum of educational and workforce development programs that assist underserved communities in achieving empowerment, self-sufficiency, and a better quality of life. FIELD has realigned our training and education to promote career pathways for adult learners. SUMMARY:

The Corps Navigator is responsible for providing case management and supportive resource services to Corpsmembers by conducting extensive research.  This position requires the Navigator to identify and implement appropriate strategies and resources to help the Corpsmembers excel and achieve a transformative work experience and personal development growth. The Corps Navigator must employ a wide range of skills and tools, all of which must be supported by administrative practices and policies.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES includes, but not limited to the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. 

  • Foster a positive culture and climate in line with FIELD’s mission and values.
  • Provide supportive resource services to Corpsmembers through research.
  • Responsible for collaborating with Crew Supervisors in the facilitation of Corpsmember plans, implementation of interventions, data-collection, and progress-monitoring.  
  • Identify, locate and connect Corpsmembers with partnering community agencies and other resources if there is a need for more intensive and appropriate services.
  • Work with supervisors to identify and implement appropriate strategies aimed at improving work performance for Corpsmembers. 
  • Design behavior intervention plans, under the leader's direction. 
  • Follow up with Crew Supervisors daily regarding Corpsmember progress toward goals.
  • Partner with Crew Supervisors and other staff to update Corpsmember information in AERIES student information system.
  • Facilitate monthly corpsmember case management meetings in collaboration with CCEC staff and other stakeholders.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). 
  • Tolerance for challenging situations and the ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure.

  • Must be able to pass our vehicle insurance qualification to drive any FIELD vehicles.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or equivalent
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a field related to counseling, psychology, social work, or equivalent


MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid California Driver License
  • Must have approval from Insurance Carrier to operate company vehicle
  • Must have a spot free driving record for at least 2 years


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to travel to any location throughout California as needed or required. 
  • Traveling up to 30 % required
  • Some evenings and weekend work may be required.
  • Must be able and willing to participate in spikes where you may camp outdoors or lodge in primitive conditions for periods of time, up to eight (8) days at a time

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Requires hearing sufficient to be aware of traffic and road distractions/conditions and listen to passengers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly working in an indoor work environment. May be exposed to the risk of electrical shock with electrical equipment. 


While visiting with crews, navigators are expected to participate in operations to develop trust and cohesion with supervisors as well as corpsmembers.


This would include but not limited to, helping set up and break down spike camps, transport tools and materials, and engage in minimal project work, alongside the crew. The employee may be exposed to outside conditions (extreme heat and cold, wildlife, steep incline/uneven grounds, etc.) and warehouse environment.
