Under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Cashier aids distributing medication and related supplies to customers.

  • Ensures correct selection of dosage, form, strength and quantity to stock.
  • Orders supplies and medications, including emergent situations, based on patient needs. Monitors drugs closely to evaluate and establish appropriate stock levels.
  • Demonstrates ability to use pharmacy inventory systems to stock product in specified areas. Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.
  • Monitors medication outdates.
  • Maintains accurate controlled substance records.
  • Consistently demonstrates excellent customer service and a pleasant demeanor during all communication with patients or health care professionals.
  • Demonstrates ability to determine the level of expertise required to address the patient/health provider need to transfer/refer them to the desired individual.
  • Demonstrates ability to triage the order arriving in the work area to designate appropriate entry priority.
  • Provides excellent customer service by greeting all customers, visitors, and/or vendors that enter the facility, ensure proper identification is present. Assists customers with their pharmacy needs, answering customer inquiries, and resolving customer complaints, as allowed by current pharmacy law.
  • Cleans equipment according to prescribed methods.
  • Files department records.
  • Provides input and data analysis to help set and achieve department goals and objectives.
  • Reconcile cash register drawers at the end of the shifts by completing daily deposit slips and forwards to Administrative Assistant at Legacy Garden. Ensures an appropriate amount of petty cash is readily available if needed.
  • Ensures the appearance of The Apothecary Shop is pleasing to the customer and performs minor housekeeping tasks as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Hours: Minimum 15 hours/week, 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday, rotating weekend



Education, Experience:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Pharmacy experience preferred

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations:

  • None

  • Ability to effectively present information to patients, families, employees, health care providers, etc...
  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively to maintain good working relationships with staff and health care providers
  • Ability to work with skill in identifying problems

EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, MATERIALS

  • Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
