Position Overview: We are looking for a talented and driven Bioinformatics Scientist to join our interdisciplinary research team. As a Bioinformatics Scientist, you will play a crucial role in analyzing biological data, developing computational tools and algorithms, and interpreting results to advance our understanding of complex biological systems. You will collaborate with biologists, geneticists, clinicians, and other scientists to support research projects and contribute to the development of innovative solutions in bioinformatics.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze large-scale biological datasets, including genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic data, using bioinformatics tools and statistical methods.
  2. Algorithm Development: Develop and implement computational algorithms and pipelines for data processing, quality control, and analysis in bioinformatics.
  3. Database Management: Design and maintain databases and data repositories to store biological data and facilitate data integration and retrieval.
  4. Statistical Modeling: Apply statistical methods and machine learning techniques to analyze biological data and identify patterns, correlations, and predictive models.
  5. Biological Pathway Analysis: Perform pathway enrichment analysis and functional annotation to interpret biological significance of genomic and omics data.
  6. Visualization: Visualize and present data analysis results using visualization tools and software to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • X years of experience in bioinformatics analysis, computational biology, or a related scientific field, preferably in academic or industry research settings.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Perl, or Java for bioinformatics tool development and data analysis.
  • Experience with bioinformatics tools and databases, such as NCBI databases, Ensembl, UCSC Genome Browser, Bioconductor, and public repositories.
  • Strong understanding of biological principles, genetics, genomics, molecular biology, and omics technologies.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, machine learning techniques, and data mining approaches applied to biological data.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
