Meter Technician

Pay: $18 an hour
Meter Technicians are responsible for the installation, removal, repair and maintenance of the Multi-Space Meter (MSM) pay stations for the City of Omaha.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate ability to diagnose MSM errors then repair as needed.
- Knowledge of diagnostic equipment, which include modems, control boxes, coin acceptors, connections, circuit boards, cables, wiring, solar panels, internal components, etc…is a plus; otherwise, training will be provided.
- Possess mechanical ability to work with power and hand tools (generators, various drills, core machine, various saws, grinding tools, etc.) and apply safe operating practices including use of
personal protective equipment. - Work with various cleaning solvents for removal of graffiti and cleaning dirty machines, painting and other applications.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team setting.
- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Works in public view and must be capable of using appropriate verbal communication, while
maintaining professionalism. - Repetitive physical activity including, standing, bending, crouching, walking, opening MSM
doors and overall good hand eye coordination. Must be able to work outside during any weather conditions for extended periods of time. - Snow and ice shoveling as required to clear meter parking areas or assist as parking locations.
- Install and remove meter hoods and temp signs for contractors, citizens and special events, as
needed. - Install or repair signage or sing space meters as needed.
- Collect coins from MSM’s containing more than the set limit as needed.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Integrity - Must be honest and ethical.
- Knowledge of geographical area.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
- Proficient with MS Office with emphasis on Excel.
- Communication - Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible, patient, diplomatic, tactful and with high level of integrity
- Dependability - Must be ready to work at start time.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Pass a background check and drug test.
