Summary

Consistent with our mission, a High Hopes lead teacher is certified to educate, care for, and inspire the young minds of children. Successful individuals model patience, compassion, and energy to guide a class of young children, each with different needs, abilities, aptitudes, and emotions. The lead teacher is a professional showing support for and partnering with families, collaborating with others, and is a reflective, continuous learner. A lead teacher always works in the classroom with a co-teacher and occasionally with a teaching assistant (floater/substitute).

Duties

  • Provide for and ensure child safety, care, and well-being.
  • Facilitate age-appropriate, standards-based academic and social-emotional lessons for children in an inclusive learning environment following the provided preschool curriculum.
  • Model compassion, empathy, care, and respect for each child through actions and words.
  • Provide appropriate physical care for children. Depending on the age and need, this may include diapering and feeding.
  • Communicate effectively with other adults, including teachers, co-teachers, therapists, parents, and administrators.
  • Using an online communication app, provide ongoing detailed information about each child's day with parents.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the learning environment according to DHS guidelines, rules, and regulations.


Requirements

  • Prior experience as a lead teacher in a preschool environment is required
