Corporate Buyer

BaxterBoo Inc., an online retailer of pet supplies based in Vernon Hills, IL, is looking to recruit a corporate buyer to support the procurement of pet food and other pet related consumables.

The ideal candidate must have at least 3-5 years of procurement experience in similar roles. Pet industry background is preferred but not required. The position is based in Vernon Hills, IL.


Responsibilities

  • Research, select and purchase quality products and materials.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
  • Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
  • Add product images and descriptions to the website using best SEO practices.
  • Maintain product pricing following margin and MAP guidelines set by the manufacturers.
  • Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
  • Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
  • Coordinate with warehouse team for supply and inventory issues as required.
  • Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
  • Occasional travel required to industry tradeshows.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Photoshop or related photo editing software preferred.


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
