Position Title: Slot Technician

Department: Dancing Eagle Slots

Employment Classification: Non-Exempt


Position Summary/General Description:

A Slot Technician will diagnose, troubleshoot, and maintain the upkeep of all Slot related equipment (e.g., slot machines, signs, bases and progressives), while using test equipment schematics and flow charts as required to replace or repair p.c. boards and other electronic components. The tech will assist in the physical moving of slot machines, perform preventative maintenance, including keeping all equipment clean and serviceable, and reboot equipment and identify existing ports coinciding with their port addresses.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follow slot supervisors/managers instructions.
  • Accurately diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair slot machines, signage, and all other slot related equipment malfunctions with the use of schematics, test equipment, and flow charts as required. Replace and/or repair p.c. boards and other electronic components as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of various types of electronic equipment, demonstrate skills and ability to diagnose problems, take corrective action, and ensure device is operational as quickly and efficiently as practical.
  • Move slot machines by use of hand truck or dolly as needed, assist in conversions, upgrades, installs, ongoing projects, test and maintain electronic gaming equipment, components, systems and sub-systems required including but not limited to: clean printers, bill validators, vacuum machines, and clean the outside of the machines with the use of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Operate Digital Meters and troubleshoot down to the board level
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area by keeping supplies stocked and in their proper place, including wearing and/or using personal protective equipment, when and how instructed, as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with personal computers, AV systems, player tracking card systems, gaming devices, safety equipment, etc.
  • Correctly perform machine key chip setup and Ram Clear functions of slot equipment/devices.
  • Maintain slot files, ship and receive parts, and daily inventory control of product components. Fill out required inventory and/or technical documentation accurately.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information related to all slot technician department information such as, but not limited to: Slot technician department policies, procedures, revenue, budgets and any and all information the company deems confidential or proprietary.
  • At all times maintain a courteous, positive and professional working relationship with all LDC personnel and the general public (e.g., coworkers, clients and vendors).
  • Address difficult circumstances that arise on the gaming floor in a constructive, professional, and business-like manner; satisfy miscellaneous guest complaints, referring to the appropriate supervisor when necessary.
  • Comply with Slot rules/procedures, internal controls, Pueblo of Laguna Gaming Control Board/ Tribal Gaming Regulatory Authority rules and regulations, federal regulations and state regulations.
  • Build relationships and loyalty with guests through sincere and meaningful interactions (e.g., learn guests’ names and preferences; connect with them individually and professionally; smile; make eye contact and verbally greet guests).

  • Work under pressure; maintain regular and punctual attendance including working odd and unusual hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED Certification preferred.
  • Must have one to two years of relevant work experience, preferably as a slot technician.
  • Computer, technical, and/or electronic troubleshooting experience preferred.

Licensing & Certification:


  • None.

Computer Equipment, Software, Machinery:

  • Experience with data cabling (CAT5, serial), and fiber optional.
  • Experience using small hand tools (i.e., screwdriver, wrench, pliers, etc.).
  • Experience using electronic testing devices (i.e., volt meter)
  • Computer experience using Word, Excel, and Access programs.
  • Experience with hardware (i.e., nuts, bolts, etc.) and software (i.e., Dongles, Flashcards, EPROM or EEPROM) problem solving.


Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to bend over, crouch/stoop, hear, stand, walk and repetitively use hands 51-100% of the time.
  • Requires the ability to balance/climb, crawl, kneel, reach overhead, talk and turn/twist 25-50% of the time.
  • Requires the ability to push/pull, carry, lift and slide/transfer 1-50+ lbs. 51-100% of the time.

Essential Mental Demands:

  • The job requires the ability to make decisions, solve problems and organize 51-100% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to read and write 25-50% of the time.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Work Environment (inside/outside):

  • The job is performed primarily indoors with frequent exposure to dust/fumes (e.g., cigarette smoke) and occasional exposure to outdoors, and hot/cold temperatures.


Other Requirements:

  • Obtain and maintain a gaming license through the Pueblo of Laguna’s Gaming Control Board and must provide/maintain a valid New Mexico drivers’ license.
  • Comply with LDC and the Federal Government Bank Secrecy Act by acquiring and/or maintaining a Title 31 Certification.
  • Must pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening.
