Position:

Mountain Operations Tech (Full-Time and Part-Time)

Season:

Winter (November 2023- March 2024)

Reports to:

Eric Pietrucha, Director of Mountain Operations

Position Purpose:

Mountain operations assist in the maintenance of the lifts while maintaining a safe environment for the passengers to load and unload. Ensuring lift stations are cleared of hazardous conditions and operating snowmaking equipment while documenting safety issues with logs and checklists.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Knowledge of basic Mechanical skills.
  • Awareness of Ski area Operations.
  • Skiing and or Snowboarding ability preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • General understanding of maintenance practices for ski lifts and mountain operations.
  • Experience with lift mechanisms and mountain operations.
  • Having the ability to work with a team to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Using problem solving skills to depict best option for the situations at hand while following safety procedures.
  • Awareness of ski area operations.

Responsibilities:

Snowmaking:

  • Operates Snowmaking equipment as directed by Operations Plan
  • Becomes familiar with operating instructions for all equipment.
  • Conducts regular maintenance checks of all equipment.
  • Acquires acute safety training practices pertaining to all equipment.
  • Documents and reports mechanical and safety issues with logs and checklists.
  • Safely operates a snowmobile.

Lifts:

  • Assist all passengers in the safe loading and unloading of the ski lift
  • Maintain load and unload ramps and areas around all lift stations
  • Identify and report any unusual problems or hazardous conditions to ensure the safety of our guests.
  • Be familiar with all policies, procedures and rules regarding operating and riding a ski lift
  • Perform daily pre-operation inspections and post-operation shutdown procedures
  • Assist with hill set up and tear down daily.
  • Be friendly, courteous, and professional to our participants.
  • Be aware of company core values, all behavior should reflect our values.


Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

  • Sitting and standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to function and work effectively at high elevations, in extreme cold and other inclement weather conditions.
  • Must be able to push, lift or pull heavy objects including snowmobiles under plumes of snowguns.
  • Able to ski or walk with bamboo, signs, fencing, tools, etc.


Materials Used:

  • Snowmaking guns, air compressors, water pumps running high pressure air and water through hoses.
  • Snowmobiles and UTV
  • Basic hand tools, wrenches, pliers, and screwdrivers.
  • Electrical testing equipment
  • Lift operation controls

Equipment Used in Job: Appropriate PPE, Snow guys, hoses, hydrants, compressors, hand tools, torches, snowmobile, skis, or snowboard.
