Trystar’s team members are our most important asset. We are in search of a Production Supervisor for our Houston Manufacturing Site. The Production Supervisor will assist the Manufacturing Site Leader in planning and executing production operations, be responsible for assembling and manufacturing multiple product groups, provide support to the estimation and project management functional groups, and assist with facilities management and HSE. This role will help Trystar Houston exceed customer expectations while following our values and guiding principles.

This role requires strong leadership abilities, excellent organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of assembly and fabrication, to include fitting and welding. This role will have multiple direct reports, including, assemblers, fitters, and welders.

This role will report directly to the Manufaturing Site Leader.

In this role you will get to:

  • Coordinate daily production operations on behalf of the Mfg. Site Leader and in support of the Sr. Project Manager.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies incorporating lean principles to achieve Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), while working in partnership with engineering, planning/scheduling, sourcing, material management, logistics, IT, sales, estimation, and other business functions.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, including lead-by-example, on-the-spot rectification of safety hazards and timely incident reporting in VelocityEHS.
  • Create a culture of accountability within the production environment.
  • Work with the Mfg. Site Leader and HR representative to manage temp. labor.
  • Work with the quality functional group to coordinate QA and QC activities; be responsible for end-of-line QC for cables, portable power, and power test products.
  • Provide input for employment decisions for labor associated with assembly and fabrication.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of fitting and welding in support of E-house design, fabrication, equipment installation and integration, and testing.
  • Be responsible for compliance, accuracy, and proper usage of the Epicor ERP system.
  • Be a change agent and drive discipline in utilizing the tools for Six Sigma, Lean, and Continuous Improvement (CI) processes.
  • Escalate issues, resolutions, and opportunities to the Manufaturing Site Leader.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Trystar’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training; making recommendations for hiring, counseling or termination; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving issues.
  • Create, execute, and improve workflows to maintain optimum efficiency.
  • Develop team leads to provide effective cross-training for the assembly and fabrication workforce to ensure a continuous, smooth-running organization.
  • Ensure proper use of tools such as Rapid Problem Solving, Root Cause Corrective Action, etc. to ensure product quality meets customer expectations.
  • Instill and maintain a positive, can-do team atmosphere within the organization, holding regular team meetings and assigning team members tasks; coordinate support services from outside the organization as needed.
  • Coordinate with peers within the Trystar enterprise, including at other Trystar mfg. sites, to continuously improve and align the organization.
  • Recognize employees for results and behaviors that support Trystar’s values and principles.
  • Work closely with the Sr. Materials and Logistics Coordinator to validate and support Clear to Build (CTB) for released jobs.
  • Provide production planning and shop capacity inputs to the Manufaturing Site Leader.

Job Requirements:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience supervising, coaching, and training employees
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish - must be fluent in both languages)
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office 360 applications
  • ERP experience
  • Strong and quantifiable background in fitting, welding, structural design, and coating/painting
  • Demonstrated and effective leadership style with a positive and proactive approach to supervision with the proven ability to build high performing teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • EPICOR ERP experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent on-the-job experience)
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced/high growth work environment
