Job Title:  Investigative Instructor

Location: Washington, DC 20226

Duties:

 

  • Must demonstrate an ability to deliver instruction in these areas based on their own training and personal experiences.  This includes the ability to explain how a variety of complex investigative techniques were applied during long-term investigations of criminal groups & gangs; sources of supply of crime guns; and the illegal possession and criminal misuse of firearms, often in relation to other acts of violence.  Prior experience as an instructor for ATF training programs will be given special consideration.
  • Must demonstrate an intimate working knowledge of the resources available through the Undercover Operations Branch (UCB) and the Enhanced Undercover Program (EUP).  This includes participation in Category 4 long-term/deep cover operations involving daily contact with violators over long periods to solidify and continue the investigation; as well as the ability to mentor and deliver training for such operations.
  • Must demonstrate a working knowledge of the ATF Crime Gun Intelligence strategy which includes to the use of NIBIN and NTC programs, along with the coordination efforts with the Crime Gun Intelligence Centers.  This includes an understanding of the application of complex investigative techniques as it relates to actionable intelligence in order to identify violators and gather evidence of violations outlined in the Gun Control Act and the National Firearms Act.
  • Shall provide input for the revisions of the lectures, demonstrations, and practical exercises for the purpose of updating materials, as appropriate and necessary for the course requirements.  Again, this requires a unique understanding of the ATF policies, procedures and best practices related to criminal investigations that fall within ATF’s purview, as well as the use of complex investigative techniques and services to further the investigation.  Prior experience with curriculum development will be given special consideration.

Qualifications:

  • Should have at least 15 years of related work experience as a bonified subject matter expert.
  • Must be able to travel to the training site dictated by the training agreement. This may involve travel domestically or internationally depending on the program.
  • Must have a flexible work schedule that meets the needs of the training being provided.
  • Must be willing to volunteer for random drug testing.
