Job DescriptionJob Description

Duties:
- Assist the orthodontist during dental procedures, including orthodontic adjustments, appliance placement, and removal
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments for each patient
- Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays) as directed by the orthodontist
- Perform preliminary examinations, including taking vital signs and recording patient medical history
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide post-treatment instructions
- Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic health records
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow
- Provide support to the orthodontist in various administrative tasks, such as billing and insurance claims
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited dental assisting program required
- Knowledge of dental anatomy, oral health, and dental terminology
- Experience in assisting with orthodontic procedures is highly desirable
- Proficiency in using orthodontic software systems (Dolphin) for record keeping and scheduling
- Familiarity with intra-oral scanner and 3D printing and digital bonding systems for orthodontic appliances is a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including children (pediatrics)
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control protocols
- Experience in taking dental imaging (Pano/Ceph x-rays) using digital radiography systems
- Previous experience as a dental receptionist or front office assistant is advantageous
