The Design Engineer will support a Deep-Sea Oil & Gas Product Development Project in Houston, Texas. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, developing, checking and releasing mechanical components and systems using SolidWorks, with a strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 standards for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, including 2D schematics and 3D models.
  • Apply ASME Y14.5 standards to ensure accurate geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in all designs.
  • Manage the checking and releasing of SolidWorks drawings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and project management, to ensure design feasibility and compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide technical support throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Identify and resolve design issues and incorporate feedback to improve product performance and reliability.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Requires bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design, or a related field.
  • Must have 5+ years SolidWorks experience creating complex 3D models and assemblies.
  • Proven experience as a Design Engineer with a strong portfolio of design projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standards for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Experience with additional CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, CATIA) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and analytically.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.

DESIRED:

  • Experience in Deep Sea O&G projects.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials.

WORK LOCATION:

  • This position is located onsite.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.


DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
