**Manual Machinist in Moody, AL

First Shift: Monday - Friday 6 am - 4:30 pm

Pay Starting at $24+/hr. Depending on Experience**

Job Summary

The Gardner Denver Nash division of Ingersoll Rand has an exciting opportunity for a Machinist at our Moody, ALfacility. The Machinist should possess a background in Machine Operation along with the ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs set ups of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operations of large Vertical & Horizontal Lathes used to repair and overhaul Large Liquid Rind Vacuum Pumps & Compressors;

• Interprets blueprints/drawings to determine critical dimensions, etc;

• Able to read Micrometers, Vernier Calipers, Dial Indicators & other precision measuring & test equipment as required. Able to maintain low tolerances as indicted by specifications or drawings as low as .0005” at times;

• Understands how to select appropriate cutting tools for various metals. Understands how to determine speeds and feeds to obtain proper surface finish;

• Able to work overtime; typically throughout the week and occasionally on weekends;

• Safe operation of Forklift within a Machine Shop environment. Safe Over Head Crane operation;

• Lifting and Rigging of heavy components of various configurations & weights

• Adheres to all company EH&S & QMS processes;

• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• Previous experience setting up and operating large Manual Vertical & Horizontal Lathe;

• Strong Mechanical Aptitude;

• Ability to read and interpret standard and metric dimensions from blueprints;

• Ability to perform basic preventative maintenance on operations of Vertical & Horizontal Lathes.

Key Competencies

Absolute KEY skills needed for role

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required

• Technical/vocational degree in Machining highly desired.
