The Clinical Director will be responsible for working directly with the Director of the Lynchburg VIA Day School to ensure comprehensive, evidence-based, and behavior analytic services are employed. Additionally, this position will ensure the high quality service provision and supervision expected across all VIA school locations. This position will oversee a clinical team of behavior analysts responsible for student progress, staff competence, and parent satisfaction. The Clinical Director role will also be a member of VIA’s Quality Improvement Committee.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Systems Development, Implementation, and Quality Assurance

  • Collaborate with the Director of the School to develop and implement best practice policies specific to student skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs and procedures.
  • Develop a program-wide peer-review process ensuring student behavior support plans are state-of-the-art and progressing in collaboration with the Director of School and Quality Improvement Department.
  • Oversee the data collection systems to ensure a high level of treatment fidelity.
  • Ensure BCBAs maintain VIA professional standards as noted in VIA’s policy and procedures and employee handbook while providing services.
  • Ensure BCBAs maintain BACB ethical standards by providing services based on BACB ethics codes.
  • Provide guidelines of when physical management should and should not be used.
  • Provide weekly updates on classrooms/teams during management meetings.
  • Audit at least 2 classroom/team meetings a month to ensure the professional presentation of data system log, client graphs, billing notes, supplies, and materials, in a VIA approved manner.
  • Monitor program-wide data (learner progress and staff competency) on a monthly basis using VIA’s outcome data tracking spreadsheet.
  • Review learner baseline and assessment data with BCBA in regards to proposed IEP/ behavioral goals to ensure goals can be met at the next ISR/reauthorization period.
  • Assist BCBAs with the identification of appropriate behavioral assessments based on the learner’s clinical profile.
  • Attend learner team meetings such as Monthly Data Reviews (MDRs) and Individual Student Reviews (ISRs).

Professional Development and Supervision

  • Provide staff training on VIA’s clinical policy and procedures as requested and monitor staff adherence to VIA’s clinical policy and procedures.
  • Provide weekly supervision (individual and group) to direct reports (BCBAs) to ensure student progress, staff competence, and parent satisfaction.
  • Identify specific training needs for BCBAs and behavior technicians based on monthly performance checklist outcomes during observations.
  • Provide direct supervision and learner/family support to learners who become at risk for more intensive staffing (e.g., 2:1 staff: consumer) or loss of VIA placement, which includes supervising all functional analyses, resulting in treatment implementation procedures, and parent training.
  • Supervise the development and implementation of behavior plans in compliance with VIA standards.
  • Supervise the proficiency check process & evaluate the process annually.
  • Conduct mid-year and annual performance evaluations of BCBAs.
  • Supervises the implementation of RBT supervision by the BCBAs in accordance with current BACB standards & audit RBT hours on a monthly basis.
  • Provide BCBA/BCaBA candidates with field experience as prescribed by the BACB standards.
  • Provide BCBA/BCaBA supervision weekly & conduct performance checks on a quarterly basis.

Other Activities as Needed

  • Oversee & assist BCBAs with providing appropriate performance feedback to staff.
  • Attend parent meetings as needed or requested.
  • Recommend classroom learner space needs including furniture arrangement, materials present, safety equipment needed, simulated vocational skill areas set up, desensitization areas, and program-specific areas to ensure student safety.
  • Provides supplemental training for BCBAs with identified performance gaps.
  • Completes special projects as needed.

Position type

This is a full-time position. This position involves working with students who exhibit challenging and/or aggressive behavior.


Requirements:

  • Master’s degree
  • Five (5) or more years (preferred) as a BCBA specializing in the treatment of severe and/or dangerous behavior.
  • BCBA certification and VA Behavior Analysis license eligible required.
  • Five (5) years (preferred) of experience managing clinical staff, including the development and implementation of effective systems for evaluating staff performance and maximizing efficiencies.

Valid driver’s license required.
