The office of the Clerk of Courts plays a vital role in the Indiana Court system.

The Clerk's office administers all court records and filings, processes and issues documents on court cases, collects and distributes any money related to court cases, processes and issues marriage licenses, and performs more functions within the court system.

Clark County Clerk's Office is seeking a Bookkeeper/Deputy Clerk to assist with managing financial records, balance accounts, prepare financial reports, and assist with various deputy clerk duties. This role requires accounting, bookkeeping, and communication skills.

Key responsibilities include maintaining and balancing financial accounts, preparing and submitting financial statements and reports, handling payments, bank deposits, and state wire transfers, and maintaining confidential tax information while issuing 1099s.

The incumbent will also assist the public with court proceedings and document requests, perform general office duties such as mail processing, document scanning, and copying, and occasionally process marriage license applications. Attendance at training and conferences as required may also be expected.

A more detailed job description is attached. The Bookkeeper/Deputy Clerk will report to the Chief Deputy Clerk and the County Clerk. Usual days and hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. A high school diploma or GED is required. A 2-year college degree if preferred but not required.
