The Jupiter Hotel is accepting applications for experienced, upbeat, full-time bartenders to join us for the summer season. Pay is DOE ($16-$20 + tips) and profit sharing incentives are offered if summer goals are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Preparing ingredients, garnishes, and mise for bar service
  • Batching, building, and serving craft cocktails according to recipes
  • Serving as the source of knowledge for cocktails and spirits, offering suggestions to guests
  • Performing nightly inventory to ensure pars for the next shift
  • Simultaneously manage multiple tasks
  • Maintain a professional attitude with guests and vendors. We see this position as a sort of concierge, especially for the products we have partnered with. 
  • Collecting payments and completing end of night reports 
  • Working closely with site security and other hotel staff to ensure guest safety. 
  • Supporting each other and other Jupiter team members whenever possible. Exhibiting a positive and involved team attitude to all hotel departments and maintaining open communications with all co-workers for the best overall performance of the hotel. 
  • Being familiar with Jupiter Hotel information, security protocols and communication network.
  • Ability to quickly learn POS software systems 
  • Promptly follows-up on all customer needs and inquiries in an efficient and expedient manner.
  • Displays a neat, clean, and approachable-like appearance at all times.
  • Thinking outside the box and making sound decisions.
  • Responding to coaching, feedback and training.
  • Strong and effective sales skills.


Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

 

  • Must have a positive, team oriented attitude. 
  • Must be service oriented.
  • Must be detail oriented with high customer service standards.
  • Must use proper etiquette while conversing with guests.
  • Must have knowledge of the Jupiter Hotel and lower Burnside neighborhood.
  • Ideal candidates will want to promote the products and bar, our partners and collaborators are everything to us. 
  • Must be available to work Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. 


Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience high volume, cocktail-focused bartending and familiarity with classic cocktails.
  • Experience with slushie machines and kegging cocktails is preferred.
  • Must have valid food handlers card and OLCC permit.
  • Experience or interest in Portland products is a bonus. 


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

    • Must be flexible and capable of bending, twisting and kneeling.
    • Must be able to work on feet, stand and walk for up to 8 hours at a time.
    • Must be able to keep up with pace of department/position demands.
    • Must be able to work for extended periods of time.
