Sano is currently looking for an upbeat Clinical Navigator (Medical Assistant) to join our busy general surgery office in Eastern Jackson County.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Central Navigator-General Surgery is an integral part of our team that establishes and maintains effective, professional, working relationships with patients and their representatives and with medical staff. The Clinical Navigator-General Surgery upholds all guidelines set forth in the clinic, maintains strict patient confidentiality, accepts and upholds patient service and satisfaction and assists practitioners and physicians in delivering health care services.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment. Take patient’s histories, vital signs and documents in the patient chart.
- Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
- Provide patient education and instruction.
- Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment, including sterilization.
- Assist physicians in procedures and minor surgeries.
- Screen telephone calls for appropriate referral/triage, relay messages and document accordingly.
- Maintain patient files, records and other information.
- Schedule office appointments and surgeries.
- Complete FMLA paperwork and surgeries.
- Manage incoming faxes to assure accurate and updated patient information.
- Any other job duties that might be requested by the doctors or management to help the office run efficiently
SKILLS
- Understanding of Internal Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Common Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong customer service skills
- Electronic medical record experience (eClinical Works preferred)
- Highly detailed and accurate, with excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint and TEAMS).
- Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications

- Ability to function effectively under tight time constraints, consistently meet strict deadlines, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment
- Ability to communicate appropriately and build relationships with patients and coworkers

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical Assistant with 2+ years of clinical experience will be considered.
- State Licensed (or eligible for License in MO and KS) if applicable.
