MUST HAVE HIGH LEVEL PROFICIENCY IN:

  • C++, the Standard Template Library (STL) and network programming
  • MySQL and database replication
  • Apache Kafka
  • Linux, bash and Python scripts
  • Hardware Maintenance
  • Debugging
  • Design Review Meetings
  • Developing and maintaining requirements documents
  • Oral and Written Communication
  • FAA Experience Preferred
MUST HAVE PROFICIENCY/FAMILIARITY WITH:
  • Experience with QT for developing C++ applications
  • Managing and administering Linux systems, including service management, log handling and system diagnostic
  • Proficiency with GIT for version control
  • Experience with Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) / RedHat Identity Manager (IdM)
  • Experience with Wireshark and diagnostic tools
  • Experience with Ansible automation for remote server management
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide hardware, firmware, software and system engineering support for POP system; Develops fixes to POP Software and integrates to the POP system

  • Able to code in C++ for multiple hours at a time.

  • Familiarization with mySQL and ability to use and write simple SQL functions.

  • Provide Impact Assessments to support implementation of identified technical issues resolutions

  • Able to document investigation activities and results, excellent written communication.

  • Summarize and review operational maintenance support activities

  • Perform a wide variety of process and implementation engineering tasks for government clients in the aviation industry; FAA Air Traffic Control knowledge preferred

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to install and test the network, hardware, and software components of air traffic and aviation systems.

  • Provide functional analysis of system requirements, development, production, test and evaluation of related information system.

  • Attend and may lead meetings, design reviews, working groups and briefings, excellent verbal and written communication

  • In addition to implementation responsibilities, be a part of all phases of the systems engineering life cycle including requirements development, design, and test.

  • Demonstrate competency in development of quality deliverables; reports issues and problems and recommends solutions; excellent written communication; excellent analytical thinking

  • Demonstrate Program Management and documentation review capabilities: track milestones and deliverable status, review final draft documents for conformity to requirements and completeness, Software Change Requests, Engineering Technical Review, Requirement Change Request, SCRUM, Interface Design Specifications

  • Contribute effectively to working groups as an indispensable team member through oral and written communication and develop cooperative working relationships.

  • Includes but not limited to system engineering activities oversight, demonstrated expertise with new and legacy FAA systems.

  • Provide technical alternative analysis and risk mitigation.

  • Familiarization with the AMS lifecycle process.

  • Provide acquisition management of information systems and information management tools.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)


  • Bachelors of Science degree preferably in mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering.
  • 3 - 5 years related experience; May substitute Master's for 3 years experience
  • Process engineering or implementation experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication and technical skills.
  • Ability to take on leadership or advisory roles to help the program achieve deadlines and goals
  • Ability to work in a team environment and work with other implementation and systems engineers to bring the system to life
  • Desire to have a technical background in air traffic and aviation systems

Work Requirements


  • MUST have a US Citizenship
  • MUST live within a 90 miles radius of Egg Harbor Township NJ (William J. Hughes Technical Center)
  • Applicant selected for employment will be subject to a government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a government Public Trust clearance.
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 15%.
  • Will be required to take an assessment test to determine level of proficiency
