Northern Star Resources Limited (ASX: NST) is a global-scale Australian gold producer with Tier-1 world-class projects located in highly prospective and low sovereign risk regions of Australia and North America. Northern Star's gold mines are all world-class, low-cost, high-grade gold mines, which together have produced over 20 million ounces to date. This large inventory means a further 10 years of mine life visibility ensuring Northern Star has a long future based on its Tier-1 operations of Kalgoorlie, Jundee and Pogo. Since acquiring these operations, Northern Star has been able to significantly extend the mine life and grow the resource base of all of our mines by investing heavily in near-mine and in-mine exploration.

We currently have an exciting opportunity at our Pogo operation for an experienced and motivated Project Metallurgist on a 15 days on / 13 days off work schedule.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The primary role is to apply safety to daily schedule and project work, independently evaluate materials, and develop machinery and advanced processes to extract precious mineral materials for use in products that must meet specialized design and performance specifications within the Pogo Mill department.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical or Mineral Processing Engineering or other related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Three years progressively responsible relevant work experience. Prefer experience with process controls development and optimization. Prefer operational experience with milling, flotation, and leach/CIP systems. Paste backfill experience preferred.
  • Ability to observe details and relate information to technical information. Ability to interpret data and identify patterns and trends. Ability to design surveys and models. Ability to create and implement reliable recommendations. Ability to create, deliver, and modify presentations. Ability to effectively resolve complex technical problems. Ability to utilize and create specialized computer applications (multi-element mass balance, modeling and simulation, statistical processing, etc.). Ability to motivate others and lead work teams.
  • Knowledge of Metallurgical accounting software. Knowledge of operating and production requirements. Advanced knowledge of applicable compliance procedures and regulations;. Basic knowledge of budgets. Advanced knowledge of process improvement.
  • Must pass a post offer physical and drug test, as well as a background check

WORK SCHEDULE & ENVIRONMENT

Working 15 days on, 13 days off at a remote campsite. Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, internet & cable tv programs. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
