Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Reports to: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and effective manufacturing operations of the manufacturing facilities. They are responsible for analyzing, optimizing, and improving manufacturing processes, as well as providing technical support to production teams. The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements, drive productivity improvements, and achieve overall corporate objectives.


Essential Duties

  • Optimize manufacturing processes utilizing process flow techniques with ability to identify new equipment for increased throughput
  • Creates official documents for cost saving justifications, manufacturing setup procedures, and standard engineering procedures
  • Performs time studies to determine takt times for line balancing
  • Utilizes SPC for process control and quality requirements
  • Supports Research & Development initiatives with testing and design, and maintenance team with engineered projects
  • Supports manufacturing projects and product needs within a team environment
  • Meet or exceed established safety standards through personal example and a safety-first mindset
  • Work closely with vendors, outsourced service providers, and contractors to protect the interests of the facility.
  • Recommend upgrades, overhauls, and other changes to major systems and equipment.
  • Actively participate in planning and coordination of plant projects (e.g., renovation or equipment installation).

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong technical knowledge and expertise in manufacturing processes, including assembly, machining, and fabrication.
  • Proficiency in process optimization techniques, such as value stream mapping, 5S, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for creating and modifying engineering designs.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems and technologies, including robotics, automation, and data analytics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, organizing, and executing projects within specified timelines and budgets.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical information to stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to facilitate multiple team projects to achieve various plant initiatives related to process improvement with demonstrated emphasis on Kaizen tools

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing engineering roles, preferably in a similar industry or environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and experience with process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in implementing automation solutions and working with robotics is desirable.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and process control tools, such as SPC and Six Sigma, is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time.
  • Capability to lift and carry objects of various weights.
  • Proficiency in using hands, fingers, and arms for tasks such as typing or writing.
  • Sufficient visual acuity to read documents, operate equipment, and recognize details at close and distant ranges.
  • Ability to hear and understand verbal communication, as well as detect warning signals or equipment malfunctions.
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, and reach low/high objects.
  • Adaptability to work in varying environmental conditions, such as temperature extremes, noise, dust, or fumes, depending on the nature of the job.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and wear protective gear, including helmets, goggles, gloves, and safety shoes, as required by the job.

Travel Requirements

This position does not require overnight travel and occasional travel during the workday.

Driver Qualification

The ability to drive a company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle on behalf of the company is preferred.

Inclusion in the company’s driver qualification program is required to drive a company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle.

Becoming a qualified driver includes:

  • Agree to the company driving policies that apply to company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle as applicable.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver license and be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record, as evidenced by completion of a baseline motor vehicle record check and ongoing monitoring.
  • When driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company, must provide a copy of the declaration page from personal auto insurance that shows the policy dates and minimum coverage amounts ($300,000 bodily injury per accident/$100,000 property damage per accident or if driving less than 5 hours/200 miles a year $50,000 bodily injury per accident/$10,000 property damage per accident or the state minimum, whichever is more). This requirement is initially and then annually thereafter.
