Job Summary

The Clinical Operations Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of a healthcare facility, ultimately contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care. This is a 35-hour a week job (with benefits) that consists of both daytime and some evening hours on clinic nights (Mon, Tues & Thurs).

The Clinical Operations Manager serves four main facets at the Volunteer Healthcare Clinic:
  1. Serves as the Charge Nurse on Thursday evenings
  2. Provides oversight of the full patient care cycle to ensure optimal continuity of care from a clinical perspective.
  3. Provides oversight of the clinical staff and assistance with the oversight of preparation, execution, and overall flow of clinic sessions and support to staff.
  4. Provides clinical support to the Executive Director, Director of Volunteers and Engagement, and Director of Patient Services as necessary

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  1. Serves as the Tuesday evening Charge Nurse (approximately 6pm - 10pm)
  2. Performs onboarding tasks of all new clinical volunteers including screenings for new Provider Requests, License validation, Orientation/Training Assignments, and Volunteer System Registration.
  3. Develops and/or leads New Volunteer Orientation and training in areas relating to clinical volunteers and/or staff development.
  4. Coordinates clinical volunteers and staff for coverage and procedures to ensure needs of the clinic are met in a timely and effective manner.
  5. Supervises and conducts performance reviews of clinical staff, including charge nurses, PA provider and phlebotomists.
  6. Ensures full continuity of patient care by monitoring all aspects of the patient care cycle.
  7. Supervises and assists volunteers in performing their duties when appropriate.
  8. Assist volunteers with any clinical or process-related questions during clinic sessions and manages workflows and processes.
  9. Prepares chart reviews, performs pre-schedule screening of patients and schedules patients as needed
  10. Documents (or updates) clinical workflows, policies & procedures and protocols and communicates information to entire staff
  11. Other office administration needs as assigned or as requested by Executive Director or Medical Director

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. BI-LINGUAL in SPANISH (oral and written)
  2. Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
  3. Ability to foster a smoothly functioning Clinic operation through timely and effective problem resolution.
  4. Strong computer skills including ability to learn & navigate an EMR system (AthenaNet)
  5. Self-Directed/Detail-oriented/Excellent follow through with minimal supervision
  6. The ability to work in a team-based environment in a manner that fosters cooperation.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor Degree (BSN) preferred
  2. RN Required
  3. 1 – 2 years of supervisory experience required
  4. 1 - 2 years of operations experience required
  5. Previous experience in volunteer-based practice helpful
