NHJC has an exciting opening for a Senior Residential Advisor at our Manchester location. In this role, you will be responsible for working with the Residential team to provide students in their respective dormitories with a safe, clean, and structured living environment that fosters student retention, satisfaction, achievement, and success. You will provide individualized case management to maintain student enrollment and success in the program. You will direct and coordinate the activities of the residential advisors on the assigned shift.
What you will be accomplishing in our team environment
· Supervise and control dormitory conditions; evaluate situations and conditions within the dormitories and make decisions or recommendations.
· Assist in the training and evaluation of residential living staff.
· Perform administrative duties involving student passes, leaves, evaluations, progress reports, emergencies, terminations, etc., for assigned shifts.
· Communicate with students' families by mail and phone as required to resolve problems and assure the well-being of students.
· Coordinate dormitory activities including entertainment, unit competitions, and unit courts.
· Inspect dormitory areas and recommend facility maintenance work where needed. Direct dorm patrol and daily cleanup.
· Determine, recommend, and arrange student visits to counselors; review problems related to assigned students with counselors.
· As assigned, participate in and conduct orientation activities and social skills training.
· Maintain required student records and update the center information system regularly and on time.
· Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
· Other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Advanced degrees preferred
- Department of Labor approval required
- Ability to speak and read the English language
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when unclear on what to do.
- Work effectively as a team member.
- Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and assess the lift load to ask for necessary assistance.
