Job Overview: The Heavy Highway Construction Pipe Foreman is responsible for leading and coordinating the pipe installation team on construction projects. This role involves overseeing the installation, repair, and maintenance of pipes and utilities such as stormwater drainage, sewer systems, water mains, and other underground infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning:
    • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project specifications and requirements.
    •  Develop detailed plans for the installation of pipes and utilities based on project blueprints and specifications. 
  2. Team Leadership:
    • Lead and supervise a team of pipe installation workers, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and project timelines.
    •  Provide training and guidance to team members on proper installation techniques and procedures.
  3. Pipe Installation:
    • Oversee the excavation, trenching, and grading activities necessary for pipe installation.
    •  Coordinate the assembly, placement, and connection of various types of pipes, including storm water pipes, sewer pipes, and water mains. 
    • Ensure that pipes are installed according to project specifications and applicable codes.
  4. Quality Control:
    • Conduct regular inspections of pipe installations to ensure they meet quality standards. 
    • Identify and address any issues or defects in the installation process promptly. 
  5. Safety Compliance:
    • Enforce and promote a strong safety culture on the construction site.
    • Ensure that all team members follow safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
  6. Equipment Management:
    • Coordinate the use and maintenance of heavy equipment and machinery required for pipe installation.
    • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
  7. Communication:
    • Maintain clear communication with project managers, engineers, and other construction team members.
    • Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and solutions.
Qualifications and Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and the ability to enforce them.
  • Ability to operate and oversee the use of heavy construction equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (additional education or certifications in construction management is a plus).
  • Previous experience in heavy highway construction, specifically in pipe installation.
