Summary

Mansfield Discovery Depot is a CT licensed NAEYC accredited Early Learning Program.Our Summer Camp Program is held onsite at 50 Depot Road in Storrs/Mansfield, CT.Our Program’s goals include creating a safe and exciting camp experience for young school age children. The curriculum includes STEM activities, reading, arts crafts, water play, gardening, cooking, play based academics, sports, nature walks, workshops/special experiences by guest presenters, and more. Camp is primarily held outdoors. Camp weeks for Summer of 2024 are June 17-Aug. 16.Availability the week prior to June 17 required as well for set up.

Duties

·Ensure health and safety of all campers
·Exhibit professionalism in regards to all areas of the position
·Help campers as needed with personal/hygiene needs; monitor health/allergy concerns
·Create and implement a successful daily schedule and whole summer curriculum schedule
·Create and implement activities/experiences that are developmentally appropriate, creative, educational, and fun.
Gather materials in advance as needed for play and activities
·Coordinate the recruitment and scheduling of guest workshop presenters
·Build relationships; create a sense of comradery and kindness through positive interactions and effective group management
·Manage behavioral challenges and develop peer conflict resolution skills
·Communicate with campers’ families (may include phone calls or conversations regarding injuries, health/behavior concerns, etc.)
·Supervision of teacher assistants working with campers;

Requirements

·Must be 18 years of age or older
·Must be physically able to perform all job responsibilities
·Must have experience working with children, preferably with the target age range of 5-8 years old
·Minimum of Associate’s Degree in the field of Early Childhood Education or related field strongly preferred.
If no degree, candidates with college level credits or Credentials in ECE or related field will be considered.
·Experience working in a School Age Summer Camp setting strongly preferred
·Schedule availability:Employment hours of 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday for 8-9 weeks through the summer
·Must have reliable transportation
