 Job Title: Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

Job Description:

MD Billing Firm is seeking a qualified and experienced Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of relevant experience in medical billing and coding, demonstrating a strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement processes and coding standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Code and Enter Patient Information: Assign appropriate medical codes to diagnoses and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines. Enter patient information into the billing system.

2. Insurance Claims Processing: Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance companies. Follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely reimbursement.

3. Billing Inquiries: Respond to billing inquiries from patients, insurance companies, and internal staff. Resolve billing discrepancies and address any issues promptly.

4. Verification of Insurance Coverage: Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for medical procedures. Update patient records with accurate insurance information.

5. Payment Posting: Post payments received from insurance companies and patients to the appropriate accounts. Reconcile discrepancies and report any issues to the billing manager.

6. Compliance: Stay up-to-date with changes in coding and billing regulations. Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in medical billing and coding is preferred.

2. Experience: 1-2 years of experience in medical billing and coding. Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.

3. Software Proficiency: Proficient in using medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

4. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to interact professionally with patients, insurance companies, and internal staff.

5. Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes.
