Job Description and Responsibilities

This is a full-time on-site role as a Special Education Teacher located in Nashville, TN. 

The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing instruction and support to students with disabilities in a school setting. Daily tasks include creating lesson plans, implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), assessing student progress, and collaborating with other educators and professionals. 

  • Full time 37.5 hours

  • This is a contract position for the 2024-25 School Year: July 2024 - May 2025
  • Multiple roles available in an elementary (K-5) center based program with a co-teaching model (autism, mod-significant needs, significant needs, gifted and talented program)

  • This position is working with a group of teachers and leaders who are passionate about teaching students from diverse backgrounds and working in an inclusive and collaborative model.

 

Qualifications

  • Must have a Teaching License in Tennessee
  • Must have a SPED license OR be eligible for a SPED program enrollment
  • Interview with an in-person demo or lesson
  • 2+ years of experience in a school setting
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in use of technology
  • Fingerprint background clearance
  • Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications

Physical Requirements

If applicable, working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities.
