POSITION OBJECTIVE

  • Collect and analyze data regarding raw materials, supply and demand,
    competition, and threats or opportunities. Identify trends, opportunities and threats.
  • Research data pertinent to the market in terms of macroeconomic factors to
    understand the direction the industry is trending, what effect these trends have on Formosa and if there is a way to leverage said developments.
  • Participate in creating detailed marketing and sales plans in cooperation with the
    sales and marketing team.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in product marketing on a constant basis.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Create in-depth reports on individual market segments that include the analysis of
    historical performance of the industry, how it compares to Formosa’s internal performance, what the industry forecasts, how Formosa’s forecasted growth compares to the industry, if there are any notable weaknesses in the industry or Formosa specific, and if there are any alarming trends to be aware of that could threaten overall industry.
    • Compare market data from various sources: government, association and
      internal.
  • Produce quarterly market overviews that comprise of macroeconomic forecasts,
    housing trends both opportunities and threats, geopolitical events and their potential impact on Formosa, industry related news, and overall PVC demand trends detailing prospective threats.
  • Research the PVC market to determine market potential and its impact of demand
    fluctuation in relation to suppliers’ production capability.
  • Devise methods and procedures for obtaining, maintaining and updating market
    related data, including the collection and tabulation of said data.
  • Assist management in forecasting the short and long term PVC market by compiling
    and extracting relevant research data.
  • Related Functions:
    • Manages projects as assigned.
    • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONs REQUIRED: MINIMUM COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR PRIOR TRAINING

  • Minimum of 1-year experience performing business opportunity or strategic
    analysis in a chemical/plastics field preferred.
  • Must demonstrate strong analytical skills such as the ability to research,
    understand new markets and make strategic decisions
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, written and oral.
  • 4 year degree in a Business-related major is required.
  • Must have reliable attendance as well as the ability to work outside the regular
    schedule if needed.
  • Demonstrate exceptional teamwork and customer service; behave professionally; treat others with respect and dignity.
  • Physical requirements include duties common to a regular office environment.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Travel required: approximately 10% to customers or plant locations domestically.
